One of Celia's particular passions is gardening and she is more than happy to show you around her favourite Scottish gardens. Thanks to her own garden at Chanonry Point, she was even featured in Amateur Gardening magazine (16 February 2008).

Many Scottish castles and historic houses are famous for their gardens including:

  • Brodie Castle (well known for its daffodils!)
  • Cawdor Castle
  • Crathes Castle
  • Castle of Mey
  • Drum Castle
  • Dunrobin Castle

Several of these places can be visited on a day trip from either Inverness or Aberdeen.

One of the most well known gardens in the Highlands is Inverewe. Created by Sir Osgood Mackenzie and now owned by the National Trust for Scotland, this colourful sub-tropical garden is further north than Moscow! Overlooking Loch Ewe on the west coast, it is warmed by the Gulf Stream and has a surprisingly wide variety of exotic plants.

Could have spent an extra day with you on the West Coast. You know so much about everything. Inverewe was the highlight. You certainly know your gardens.
